Yeah, I don’t think Jackson State would ever leave the SWAC there’s just too much tradition there. But I appreciate you understanding where I was coming from.
Honestly, I think it’s going to be WKU. And if that happens, it’s going to leave the West completely unbalanced, setting us up for the exact same situation Louisiana Tech faced all those years ago.
Well, that's kind of the point. I want to see us out of the SunBelt. But unfortunately we have an administration that has tack welded us into this position. And they have zero give-a-____ on working for a better conference. Can you imagine? The unbridled enthusiasm of playing Tech, ULM and frigging Jackson State? LoL! Man, we thought it was difficult getting butts in the seats before? And what recruit would get amped up thinking about playing THAT schedule! Depressing.
Are the last few pages of this thread a joke? I’d tell someone to touch grass but they need to touch much more than that
The SBC need not overthink this. Its very simple. WKY is available, invite them back. Not a fan of these super sized conferences, but if SBC expands to 16 members chances are Mid Tenn will want to follow WKY. Then if western geography trumps everything else check on Missouri St. if they have interest. They are a CUSA D-1 football newbie, but have large enrollment. All three of those schools(three new States) have far more upside than latech which is waay down the list.
This thread has drifted into the realm of mysticism.
The only school available right now that would increase the quality of the SBC and the revenues of the SBC, and subsequently, UL, is Liberty. If we were smart, we would add them, but we're stupid. So, we won't.
Besides that, if ESPN will give us more money to go big, we should do that. I really don't care who we add in this case.
If we do neither, the best option is to do nothing and wait for the next shakeup or media deal renewal.
This is what the conference should do.
We should be burning up the phones of contacts in the PAC and the AAC to get the F out of here.
