    This is , unfortunately, true.

Being loyal to a G6 conference is huge mistake for any administration; be loyal to the folks that pay your bills, and always be striving to get in a better conference where fan experience will be better.

For me, that conference right now is the PAC because football is at least on par with the SBC and basketball is so much better that it is not even in the same universe as SBC hoops. The stick and ball sports are not as good, but then again, it is unlikely that we are going to be relevant in those either going forward.

I will give you that CSU and USU won't excite our football fans, but Boise, Fresno and SDSU certainly will; and only morons would prefer the SBC to the PAC in mens' basketball.

In hoops, Gonzaga [8], USU [37], Boise [44], CSU [47] and SDSU 52] were all ranked above the top AAC school UNT [65], and OSU [85] was also better than the top SBC school, stAte [94]. Only Washington State [112] and Fresno [278] fell below stAte, and even Fresno was better than 5 SBC schools.
I hope we are not making any decisions based on conference loyalty. Every other university will do what is best for them, when the time comes.

Don't think any "decisions" have been made, are being made or are being considered. It's Martin Hall after all.

I posted this today on the Texas State forum:

Congrats to Texas State for making the bold move. The PAC 12 will be great for you.

If a travel partner is needed, the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns are well suited for that. We are Carnegie R1, have great new facilities, and have been a great rivalry with you. UL would be a super addition to the PAC 12. I hope to see UL mentioned as the PAC 12 explores future expansion.

    The response I received was:

We've actually talked about this subject in the realignment thread. Most here agreed that UL would make a great addition to the PAC.

I don’t think the east could break off and start a new conference. No auto bids for any post season play. I don’t think too many teams would sign up for that.

Lots of things will likely change in the next reshuffle. Autobids could go the way of transfer rules, who the hell knows! But, one thing we do know is the SBE wants their own eastside conference.

Going the way of transfer rules, i.e. unlimited auto bids? Or no rules, i.e. no bids??? Wow

Like I stated, who knows what will happen during the next reshuffle to appease the P2 conferences, I surely don't know. I never thought they would screw up college athletics like they've done, so who knows what they'll do next.
