It sure has helped in his budget so far hasn’t it? Can you tell me what baseballs NIL budget was for last year? I’ve been to multiple NIL meetings with various coaches. It’s all the same. They can say how they will distribute the funds and that they will pay on a performance basis, retention etc etc etc. Thats all fine. But if you don’t fund raise, you don’t have funds to pay the players.
The reason I “compared UL to the sec or the top of our conference” is very relevant. We lost one guy to southern miss and another to South Carolina. The second to worst team in the sec. I’m not setting myself up for disappointment cause I live in reality. I made the comment because I’ve seen many people on social media and message boards being upset with losing a player to “lowly” South Carolina. It’s all relative. You don’t have the funds you can’t hire the guns. We don’t have the funds and that falls on who? Whether it be Marlin, Des, aly, Deggs, Q or whoever. Some coaches make it happen and some don’t. Call it dumb I don’t really care but the writing is on the wall.
It is very hard to give NIL money, when they go up on tickets, do away with $2 Natty’s (had to put that even though I don’t drink them), ask for money for new baseball clubhouse.
And then the real kicker is paying for and raising kids, ie family life…..
So yes these coaches will have a hard time raising money, however not saying it is right but it has now become part of their job. No one will support this baseball ____ show we witnessed last year!
