More and more young men going for trades. No college debt and can instantly make more money than a business degree and many other degrees. It took me many years to pay off my college debt and to finally have a good income where my family is living comfortably with my 4 year business degree. I was in the generation where they said you have to get a degree. If my boys don’t specialize in something like engineering or medical field they will be going to trade school for welding, electrician, Plumber, or AC repair. Lots of money in trades and is very much needed right now.
The two G6 Texas schools who would appear to be good across the Sabine I-10 rivals, Texas State and UTSA, have enrollment numbers as follows (according to Google AI Overview):
TX St
Total: 40,678
Undergrad: 36,206
UTSA
Total: 35,770
Undergrad: 30,889
And we’re at 13,432 undergrad and 19,213 total according to the same source.
And the two Texas schools also have a student fee for athletics to help supplement.
Now…our rival to the East we like being linked with, Southern Miss, appears to have enrollment numbers similar, maybe even lower, to us. Unfortunately, though, while their baseball team has been on a good recent run, I fear both of our athletic departments getting left behind by the G6 programs we want to be competitive with, unless something drastic changes.
I hope you’re right. Being we don’t have as many students as some of those other G6 schools we want to compete with and be better than, we need to have more energy and enthusiasm across our overall student body than them. A really good football season with a huge rebound in basketball (see what I did there?) should hopefully help in that regard.
Does utsa and texas state have open admissions?
Does texas have something similar to TOPs
