Thread: Why SEC Strength of Schedule is Built on a House of Hype

  1. Default Why SEC Strength of Schedule is Built on a House of Hype

    Let’s play a game.

Imagine a football team that plays eight home games, avoids any real road tests, schedules an FCS cupcake in November, and only ever validates its greatness by beating other teams in its own echo chamber of ego.

Great read. And for the record I do believe the SEC is the best conference, but I think the media has a lot to do with it. You spend 20-30+ years yelling, force feeding, and telling everyone this is the best place to play college sports and eventually the opinion becomes fact in the eyes of the college athletics fanbase.

Also, and correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the SEC is the only conference (at least at the P4 level) that plays 8 conference games instead of the typical 9. Very strategic because God forbid these teams beat each other for one more week adding another loss to the books.

And the free recruiting.... im old enough to remember when alumni and boosters were not allowed to recruit, but if they work for espn it is ok.

Cant help but think many of these espn jobs and radio jobs for ex SEC players that are clearly not the best qualified, was some sort of illegal pre NIL, promise of NIL, go to sec and we will get you a job after school is over.
