So far doesn’t look like any guys moving up. Just a batch of misjudged talent/lack of development.
It’s a combination of things. Everybody falls short sometimes. The frequency of the misses and their severity gets you a season like this one. We brought in a guy to be a weekend starter. He didn’t even end up being a reliever or weekday starter. Ultimately, he couldn’t even be trusted in weekday mop up. We let a guy go because he was a good kid but we didn’t have a spot for him. He would’ve hit for the 4th highest average on our team and lead us in SBs and he then waxed our ass when the season was on the line. Then you’ve got a guy like Hammer who takes a step back and doubles his walks in only a third more innings. Marcotte was the big surprise for me here. He got significant innings, showed promise at times, and has 3 years left to play. My guess would be a personal disconnect. Deggs has more than earned his shot to get this turned around. I personally won’t be heartbroken if Gunner moves on.
Let’s be honest after watching USM and Coastal we have taken a big step backwards compared to their roster. We need to turn over the roster and get some dudes.
