The other knock over the head whamo was losing Sam Landry.
She really did not reach her potential here.
The difference in her case is, she was hampered by Glasco’s arrogance in experimenting with a baseball pitching coach. I do not fault the baseball coach for trying.
Money is not forgotten, but I feel like this playing-with-fire sentimentality was a contributing factor to everyone who exited or left the program. From Glasco down through the players.
Even if Glasco succumbed to fan sentimentality with less than experienced hires, the under achievements of his tenure were totally due to his relying on players already existing talent when they arrived and were exacerbated by his inability to coach them "up."
It is imperative in order to have players who reach their full potential you have to have a coaching staff that can "coach players up."
Ill say this. Its not a good look for our program, when our coach leaves for another school...not even a top tier school....takes a good majority of your players with him, and they waltz right into the WCWS in his first year with your players. It kinda makes it look like our school can't get players to reach their full potential here...money or not.
But did he talk to those players he took before they were in the portal?
How/why did administration allow that? Will espn ask that?
THIS!!! THIS is what people should be upset about more than the hatred for Glasco. Always reactive rather than proactive. It just really sucks knowing the season we could've had this year with all our players staying and also the covid year season, where I felt like this team would've made a very deep run in the WCWS.
Well, I can't be upset because I don't contribute to nil. Blame me, I still want amateur sports, not the minor leagues of pro sports.
