Just in recent years, we’ve seen talented young players that weren’t great as freshmen, become star players.

Higgs hit about .220 with no HRs as a freshman. Now he’s .340 with 16 HRs

Debarge hit .293 with 3 HRs as a freshman. He hit .370 the next year and then .350 with 21 bombs.

Roccaforte hit .270 as a freshman with 4 HRs. And .365 with 16 HRs the next year.

Brock’s first two years he had 0 HRs and hit right at .200. Then became a .310+ and double digit HR guy

If kids like Galt, Bellard, Lucas, Wright, Hebert, Pourciau, even the sophomores like Mandino, Cuff, Markle, etc all stick around and are willing to put the work in, there’s definitely a good foundation. Stelly had made great strides this year and will be back. Same for Yuhasz. Amedee can still get better. Torres may elect to come back as he will have another season of eligibility due to the JUCO time not counting.

This season has been rough, but a lot of young and talented players have gotten experience and some will make big jumps going forward. And the veterans will have another year of experience. There are also some HS recruits that will be in the mix. I got a chance to see the CF coming from Catholic-BR recently (Noah Lewis) and he looks like a potential superstar.

Adding a proven power hitter thru the portal would be a nice addition, but even if that doesn’t happen, I think many will be pleasantly surprised at what this group will be next season.
If we don't get some serious arms nothing will change.

Did Yuhasz really make strides this year? He hit for a lower average with less power than last year.

Yup, same guy. I guess a change of scenery did him some good. He had a large enough sample here to only go 5/28.

He’s doing solid now at Marshall as their lead off guy hitting 0.282 with 17/18 stolen bases.

Last night, it felt like I was watching our team play a fall ball game. Lets see what tonight brings.

Deggs continuing a time honored Cajuns baseball tradition. Falling flat due to numerous reasons (recruiting, lineup issues, coaching issues, etc) after making a few regionals in a row. But don't worry, we give our coaches leeway to fix the problems they created (recruiting, lineup issues, coaching issues, etc) and then we make a few regionals in a row and then fall flat again. Said coach gets to fix his problems again. Rinse and repeat and that's how coaches stay for 20+ years.

Dude, G5 teams that make multiple regionals in a row and “rinse and repeat” are the best programs in the G5.

You expect UL to be in a regional every year??? That’s nonsense. That said, the coach has been here 4 seasons. And has been in a regional each of the last 3.

And I’ll sign up right now for 15 regionals in 20 years

One bad year is a blip on the chart. Two is a trend. Clean house. Reload and hope for better.
