Geaux Cajuns
Bless each and every one of you who witnessed that in person
That was rough.
What happened to Galt?
Why was Cuff batting second?
Sure would be nice to have Halter in our lineup.
Jackson Halter? That hit .179 with 0 HRs last year and left?
I love Deggs, and I’m not suggesting his seat should be hot after the season, but the consistent turnover in the lineup and overall coaching approach is very difficult for me to digest.
The good news; we only gave up 3 runs.
The bad news, we can’t hit worth a crap.
I am trying,……wanting keep the faith, but almost no point in that now. Vermilion Catholic & Teurlings have great teams, are there a few good hitters that we can pluck out of there for next year?
Gavin Galy and a pair of relievers combined on a four-hit shutout while Patrick Engskov and Ashton Quiller each hit home runs to lead Arkansas State to a 3-0 Sun Belt Conference win over the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns on Thursday at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field at Russo Park.
That was just not fun to watch. If recruiting doesn't find a ton of talent for next year, we're in for the same.
There are quite a few young guys on the roster that are talented kids.
Just in recent years, we’ve seen talented young players that weren’t great as freshmen, become star players.
Higgs hit about .220 with no HRs as a freshman. Now he’s .340 with 16 HRs
Debarge hit .293 with 3 HRs as a freshman. He hit .370 the next year and then .350 with 21 bombs.
Roccaforte hit .270 as a freshman with 4 HRs. And .365 with 16 HRs the next year.
Brock’s first two years he had 0 HRs and hit right at .200. Then became a .310+ and double digit HR guy
If kids like Galt, Bellard, Lucas, Wright, Hebert, Pourciau, even the sophomores like Mandino, Cuff, Markle, etc all stick around and are willing to put the work in, there’s definitely a good foundation. Stelly had made great strides this year and will be back. Same for Yuhasz. Amedee can still get better. Torres may elect to come back as he will have another season of eligibility due to the JUCO time not counting.
This season has been rough, but a lot of young and talented players have gotten experience and some will make big jumps going forward. And the veterans will have another year of experience. There are also some HS recruits that will be in the mix. I got a chance to see the CF coming from Catholic-BR recently (Noah Lewis) and he looks like a potential superstar.
Adding a proven power hitter thru the portal would be a nice addition, but even if that doesn’t happen, I think many will be pleasantly surprised at what this group will be next season.
