So where is the other 30% coming from if it's not from the University or privately funded? They can't work for UL on UL property and not be employees of UL. What happens at practice if one of the 6-8 240# guys runs into a coach that isn't being paid so say by UL and they get hurt. Can't claim workers compensation.

I will say this because I have questions and things just don't add up. How can the basketball coaches work on university property in a coaching instructional capacity and not be paid, however they are listed on the athletic website as coaches vs the other sports coaches that aren't listed on the website? Something doesn't add up. Also if their is a state hiring "summer freeze" like some folks have mentioned then how does someone like Taylor Pleasants get hired at TSAB, get promoted all over social media about the new position and still be listed on the school's athletic website? That chick isn't working for free. I am just asking questions not say you are wrong or right.
This is just what I have been told, not saying it is 100% correct. Just sharing with the information with the group.

Further information I have received is that some schools seem to be getting around this and others aren't.

I could see LSU getting some special exemptions from the state.

The only thing I am sure of is that this isn't a black and white issue, there is a crap ton of gray area.

Yeah…when your athletic department can be fully funded by its own revenues and boosters, then I’m sure you can get some exceptions in a hiring freeze.

My guess is that the state said if you can finance the coaching salary yourself, you can Hire but if you need state funds, you will have to wait

I know that's a hypothetical but I've never heard of a coach anywhere getting injured and having to file for worker's comp.... In that hypothetical situation they would probably keep getting paid their supplemental salary and have supplemental insurance in place
