If Lacey was ever offered I believe she would take the job. I also believe she could be the next head coach. I am talking about the two none hired coaches advancing themselves but not necessarily at UL. This program should be advancing assistant coaches to be head coaches elsewhere.

Fact #1 We have hosted players and most have said thanks, but no thanks.

Opinion #1 I believe we are losing players that have been hosted due to not have coaches in place. Yes some could be for money reason but the upper tier players we probably can't get anyway if it becomes a bidding war with bigger money programs. We are not even getting the lower to mid tier kids and I believe a lack of full staff is to blame.

Fact #2 Good coaches have interviewed for the hitting and position coaching vacancies. Just about everyone has turned the postions down.

Opinion #2 It's well known that Maggard talked coach out of retirement to become the head coach. With that being said I believe most in the coaching industry will look at that as a sign of are you really committed long term? As an assistant I wouldn't apply for a job to work under a coach if they have that perception. Why work under a coach who might be here 10 more years or only 1 more year? If she is here for a short stint and then retires again, a new coach will be hired and they will hire their own staff which probably wouldn't include the current assistants. This program should be a designation for assistant coaches to advance themselves. To do that they need security and tender at one place with success. Tick Tock, Tick Tock time is running out!
Thank you for the detailed explanation. Hopefully Coach Habetz can get things rolling- she is and was the popular choice to lead the program

It’s unfortunate the way things played out with the last 2 assistant coaches

Seems like an easier chance for an assistant to move up to HC

58 days since the season ended. No coaches have been announced and only 2 portal players have been announced. Hopefully this week the program can get some good news.

She had good stats coming out of High School and was recruited to Arizona State so she has some talent. The key will be can the new pitching coach get it out of her as she has three years of eligibility left. She threw 50 innings last season as a true freshman, most of it in relief work. The freshman numbers were rough, hopefully a fresh start will help.

I have no idea what she's capable of. Obviously, the coaches see something in her. She will have to be coached up and improve tremendously to be successful at the division I level. Stats tell a story. She finished her freshman year with a 7.0 ERA. She pitched a total of 50 innings, giving up 71 hits and 50 earned runs. She struck out 33, walked 23 and gave up six home runs. Opponents hit .321 against her.
