Thread: Softball Offseason

Money may be the problem too! Not sure what they pay Asst. Coaches but could that be hampering the process also? Not the so called freeze but the amount UL pays/spends on its asst. coaches.

    Its like someone is MIA.

No sense of urgency or activity in media, print, or social.

No idea, but money is always a factor.

Does anyone think we would only have 2 portal transfers in place when we desperately need more pitching and outfielders?

I'm just saying, those of us that follow these sports hard, understand we are out of step and way behind filling our needs.

Of course, the game plan could be we have what we need, just need to do a better job developing the under performers and incoming freshmen. If true, that would take a couple of really good pitching and hitting coaches, but we don't have them on staff yet.

Or, are we simply having problems finding coaches and players who want to be a part of our program?

Not knowing anymore than what's already transpired, it's very hard to see how we'll be any better in 26.
I agree. I know a lot of folks don't like Glasco, but he was a RELENTLESS RECRUITER! Before and after NIL and the portal.

In my opinion that isn't the reason hires haven't been made. The program has never had issues attracting assistant coaches. This program is a program young coaches who aspire to be a head coach one day would want to have listed on their resumes.

I said from the advent of NIL in previous posts that schools should eliminate the term "student-athlete" and replace it with "employee" and that has essentially come to pass with schools now being able to pay athletes directly. The NCAA has essentially created 2 separate classes of attendees to a university. There are those who attend to get an education ("students") and those who attend to play sports and get paid ("athletic employees"). I believe that you will see a push in the future to eliminate all educational elgibility requirements for athletic employees and schools will just have them sign some type of employment contract that sets out specific performence requirements and a code of conduct while they are an employee of the school. Athletic scholarships will be a thing of the past and will be replacd by an athletic employee contract.

If they take NIL money and leave they should also have to pay it back.

This should be the way, but aren't these NIL "deals" just year-to-year?

I assume its dependent on whatever agreement is signed by the parties involved. 1 year, 2 years won't matter because the "student" will always be protected by the courts, it seems.
