No one has suggested that any of the three leave; only that in our opinion they would be more effective offensively as full swing hitters. We could certainly be wrong about that, but we are definitely not wrong about the fact that our offensive output was not good this past season and that the majority of that shortfall was attributable to the lack of power and the lack of timely hitting. Our entire point is that whatever position players we acquire in the offseason must have offensive potential to greatly improve those two weaknesses.

Also, you are misreading how we define power. It isn't just [or even mostly] home runs. All extra base hits are power indicators. Our roster this past season had only 2 people with 10 or more total extra base hits. As a team, we had 78 total extra base hits. ULM had 5 players with 10 or more extra base hits and had 131 total extra base hits as a team. Coastal Carolina had 6 players with 10 or more extra base hits and 172 extra base hits as a team.

We had 6 players with 10 or more RBIs and 196 RBI as a team. ULM had 11 players with 10 or more RBI and 294 RBI as a team. CCU had 8 players with 10 or more RBI and 319 RBI as a team.

Surely you are not suggesting that we are unable to recruit and develop players as well or better than those two programs which have practically no history or tradition?

Sure we can recruit better than them but our hitting coach hasn't shown the ability to develop anyone in two seasons. The decline is evident.

This is not a program that can recruit finished products and fine-tune them like others. Hard to recruit experienced asst coaches with the knowledge needed to develop unless you will pay them accordingly.

    Hopefully university/program commits to that.

Now, with that said, how about those SLU Lions?!?!

Since when is a freshman a finished product?

Even though recruiting now runs the gamut fresh through senior, I still read your post as implying freshmen recruits due to the pairing of recruit and develop.

I would hope transfers (who also are recruited) are already more on the developed side of the equation.

I think we all agree that coach Ali has some tough decision to make this off season. I was hoping that she would have made some of those decision after the end of season meaning that you would see some girls in the portal. I’m beginning to think that I am off on my thinking…

The portal opens tomorrow. Once a player chooses to enter the portal the school has 48 hours to enter them. Stay tuned, everyone will not return.

And the Lions ARE THE KING OF THE JUNGLE this year. Congratulations Southeastern.

TSAB just lost to a team that has only been in the regionals for the 2nd time in the history of the their program. AND AT HOME. LOVE THIS!!!
