I agree. The question is can this program attract upper echelon talent from the coaching fraternity in order to coach these players up.

Probably not consistently, but you can sure find coaches whether they are no longer at major programs or ones that are still playing professional ball that want to coach and can bring enthusiasm and know how to reach the modern athlete as well. You develop coaches as well.

No standard should be lowered. Once you lower or ignore a standard you have set a new, weaker standard and broken trust with your players and program. Goals can be negotiated and re-evaluated. Standards should never waiver for a program of this magnitude. UL softball shouldn't be a developmental league for coaches in my opinion.

Just for fun, I went check the Krewe Allons website, looking for a sport specific list of NIL goals and/or NIL funds on hand. I can understand that funds on hand was very unlikely to appear; but for the life of me, I cannot see why ANY organization that is asking for money from donors does not have any specific information at all on their monetary goals, nor any information about where we are in relationship to both those goals and at least a guess as to where we are relative to our peer institutions.

If you call hiring young coaches with major game experience and success at the collegiate level lowering the standard, look around college athletics and you can find them. We have a number of former football athletes coaching at other programs, from Michigan St to the Pro's. The college softball and baseball game are littered with former players as coaches Shop where you can afford and work.

We have a number of former football athletes coaching at other programs, from Michigan St to the Pro's. The college softball and baseball game are littered with former players as coaches Shop where you can afford and work.

In my opinion we need proven coaches to get these players up to speed quickly. Who knows maybe an inexperienced coach can also do that. It failed with Shellie and she had experience at three different places.

My guess is Coach Habetz has some history with this recruit, likely recruiting her through High School to Bama being from Tennessee and playing for Dale Palmer's Southern Force squad (regularly has Alabama kids committed to / signed with Alabama).

If that is the case, it shows what I meant in an earlier post. Stats will not always determine why a coach goes after a portal kid. Sure it looks great on paper but these Coaches know that often times talent is the farthest reason for why the majority of these kids have a less than successful year (especially as a true freshman).

I've betting that's changing as well. Don't know for sure, but I also never thought the NIL fiasco would be heavily impacting softball as it already has.

So just my gut feeling says at some point it trickles down to even coach selection and whether or not one's program is a destination one for top players and coaches or just a stop along the way to "bigger and better". And more profitable now.
