Isn't there normally a lid on anything coming out of athletics till August? Seems to recall going down this road before. Like High School, everyone gets 2 months off....

Yes, i saw that as well, for the average student...If the athlete loses 43pct of credits it seems they would be close to ineligibility per the on track milestones...
In Division I NCAA, student-athletes must complete a certain percentage of their degree requirements each year to maintain eligibility. Specifically, they need to complete 40% of their degree requirements by the end of their second year, 60% by the end of their third year, and 80% by the end of their fourth year. This is part of the NCAA's "progress toward degree" requirements.
Some schools prefer to keep fanns engaged during the summer...https://www.facebook.com/share/v/196hEdGDhV/
So basketball has hired a whole staff, Deggs hired a coach after his season ended and football has now hired a coach. For anyone saying we have a hiring freeze for softball coaches is just plain clueless.
Not having hires made at this point has hurt us in recruiting this offseason without a doubt. The longer it takes to get coaches on staff means that more quality players turn their nose up at considering us. We’ve already lost Wheeler strictly because of not having a pitching coach. I promise it has been a factor with recruits that have visited.
Well she only made one hire last year and she was forced to keep Landry. Shelbie wasn't released because of performance issues, she actually worked out and Lacey is here to stay. The delay for whatever reason has cost us a current star pitcher(which is a huge need and that hasn't even been addressed in the portal yet) and it has cost us portal players. The Jenkins twins wasn't interested in playing at UL with no knowledge who would be coaching them. We didn't lose those two players because of money. No top tier player will want to play for UL and not know who their position coach is. After 25 years in the industry the right hire should have been hired already in my opinion. The call for the right coach should have been made back in April when most folks knew these coaches wouldn't be retained. The longer we wait the more of a set back for the program in my opinion.
If Glasco was still our coach, does anyone think we'd be here still looking to hire a pitching and hitting coach?
Does anyone think we would only have 2 portal transfers in place when we desperately need more pitching and outfielders?
I'm just saying, those of us that follow these sports hard, understand we are out of step and way behind filling our needs.
Of course, the game plan could be we have what we need, just need to do a better job developing the under performers and incoming freshmen. If true, that would take a couple of really good pitching and hitting coaches, but we don't have them on staff yet.
Or, are we simply having problems finding coaches and players who want to be a part of our program?
Not knowing anymore than what's already transpired, it's very hard to see how we'll be any better in 26.
