The season ended 5 weeks ago, a month before the season even ended I knew that Shelbie and Shellie most likely would not be retained. Shellie for performance and unethical reasons and Shelbie for unethical reasons. That 9 weeks minimum that Coach knew and probably longer that these ladies would need to be replaced. Coach Aly is a 25 year plus veteran and Lacy is a 10 year plus veteran. Coach should have a top 10 list of who she wants to hire if any position on her staff ever becomes open. Where she hires her new coaches she still should have another list. Why they have not named a coach yet for pitching or hitting is unacceptable to the standard of this program. This program isn't a Johnny come lately program folks should be blowing up her phone wanting to work at UL. Schools smaller than UL are hiring head coaches, assistant coaches, signing portal players, getting future verbal commitments. As a financial supporter of this program it's fair that I think someone needs to show some URGENCY. That's all I am asking. I have been a long time supporter of UL with various season tickets, sports specific funds, rcaf, NIL, etc. 2026 will be a make or break season for me in regards to dishing out money. I along with many others can just sit at home in the AC, eat my own food, drink my own drinks, use my own restroom etc for free. I'm sorry I just am not seeing the URGENCY. I'm trying to trust the process but it's harder when smaller schools are doing more than us. We have a first team 4A all state outfielder right here in Lafayette and we don't even recruit that kid. In my opinion and many others she was the best overall player on the STM roster. Not sure what the plan is for this program.. Rant over.
Here's what I would say to your post. If you are concerned, give Coach Habetz a call and address it. It's been my experience that most coaches don't make changes without have people identified for those positions. As I stated, it's very possible she may have those coaches on campus soon doing work, but the state law requires them to be posted. This has been my experience when it comes to football in the past. If that is the case, the administration will not state anything publicly until the contracts are official.

It sounds to me like you have trust issues with Coach Habetz. This is the person that the majority of Cajun Softball fans wanted as the new face of the program. You also supported her hire. Either give her a chance to build her program and trust in the process or jump off. Many of you are closer to the program than I, so I really don't share your concern at this point. I don't know what kind of NIL has been raised and what she needs to move forward. As for as prospects, there will always be different opinions on signees, especially local. If you are talking about Baily or Segura, one of the parents frequents this forum.

    Just My Opinion.

Agree, Good managers never stop interviewing or collecting resumes..

Should head coaches have experience as both pitching coach and hitting coach, (or at least one) so when one is vacant or not doing well they can fill in

I'm not sure what it means but I was on X looking around and I noticed that Mallory Wheeler removed her post about entering the portal. Now it's just in her biography that she is a RHP with 3 years of eligibility left and her email. Wonder if she could be having second thoughts? I know whoever is interested in her has a way to contact her and many searching the portal will see her name and can look up her X account but I thought that was very interesting.

EDIT** just realized my phone was not loading correctly it's there**

    She already has visits scheduled.

    Just My Opinion.
No need to give Coach a call as I am just a nobody supporter. My concerns will not change her opinions or plans for the program. My issue is with lack of URGENCY and COMMUNICATION. Yes I did support the hire. The problem with having coaches on campus soon is the season ended 5 weeks ago, the new semester starts in 8 weeks. The administration may not state anything but coaches should be communicating news to the current roster. I'm not concerned with who is on this board or trying to hurt anyone feelings, but in my opinion Bailey was the best overall player at STM. A few other do also have talent. My opinion doesn't matter.

No such thing as a nobody supporter!!! All Ragin’ Cajun Softball supporters are important. Coaches are working extremely hard every day. For anyone to believe anything different would be totally inaccurate.

Well, when CAH can't tell Wheeler who her coach is going to be at this point in the off-season, maybe she and CLP need some help. I'm sure they are "working hard", but only 2 can do so much.

It didn't take Coach White long to get his staff in place.

This is a very critical time for ncaa softball off-season. Not having your staff in place now, it's not a good look. Apparently we had 4 to 5 visits last week and none signed, that we know about. Did lack of a pitching and hitting coach play a part? Don't think these visits were uninvited so as supporter, NIL giver and with annual donations to this program, I'm worried!
