VO,
Curious to know what you are considering "good numbers"? I would consider Manning and Marceaux both to have "good numbers" as a Freshman in the SEC in limited action. For Manning specifically after being told all spring she would redshirt and would not see any time, to being called on after game 1 vs. Tennessee in the series and continue to be the starting 3B after the Coaching staff had tried Daniels, McKee, back to Daniels, McKee again then finally giving Manning a shot (and this is not to dispute the coaches' decisions as right or wrong, just the facts) to have her be the best option as a true freshman and finish the season hitting .320 in 25 AB's through 18 Games.
As a sophomore I believe it was more lack of confidence and even more limited opportunities. I believe both of the portal additions (I personally don't know enough about the pitcher to have an opinion), if perform to their abilities will be huge in-state gets for the Cajuns.
Now, I am smart enough to know that my "belief" can be way off also but time will tell. LOL
Manning has scored 3 runs and driven in 5 in two seasons, hitting .289 with 48 plate appearances, 1 2b being her only extra base hit. Her run production/PA was slightly worse than Mia Liscano was last year.
Marceaux has also had 48 plate appearances, scoring 9 and driving in 9, while hitting .310 [2 2b, 2 HR]. Her run production/PA is about the same as Ceci Vasquez last year, so pretty good.
I believe a lot of things, and I am in general a strong believer in our players. I also did not say that either of the portal position players would not be good for us. What I DID say is that neither has produced at a significant level in D1 softball. As for the "in-state" portion of your statement, I am one who doesn't care where a player or a coach comes from; I only care if they produce wins.
I'm referring to the part that you left out in your response. You did in fact mention neither had produced at a significant level, but then went on to say "and only Kennedy Marceaux had good numbers in limited playing time."
