Softball: Cajuns and Chants to Face Off in SBC Softball Semifinals

The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Softball team is set to face Coastal Carolina at 4:00 p.m., on Friday, May 9 in the semifinal round of the 2025 Sun Belt Conference Championship Tournament at the Troy Softball Complex in Troy, Alabama.

Wonder if Coastal will pitch Picone 3 games in a row.

She is their best shot at winning, but her flashy statistics were mostly compiled in non conference games. Same applies to their # 2 pitcher, Abby Henderson.

Overall Stats:

Picone: 26-9, ERA 2.36, WHIP 1.13
Henderson: 10-6, ERA 3.86, WHIP 1.44

Conference Stats:

Picone: 10-6, ERA 2.78, WHIP 1.22
Henderson: 3-4, ERA 6.00, WHIP 1.94

I think they will ride Picone as far as she can take them; but they may start Henderson against us hoping that she can hold us to 4 or 5 runs, and that their hitters can score more than that against our pitching.

If I were their coach, I would start Henderson, but keep her on a short leash, bringing in Picone only if we light up Henderson. The situation being what it is, no one is getting an at large, and I would rather have Picone than Henderson against a really good hitting ULM team.
