For me it's not so much losing Texas State, though they could have been a fun Western Conference rival across the boarder, but the fact it seems like we are just never in these conversations. Not speculative articles, "criptic" tweets, any buzz, for moving "up" into what even just may be a perceived better conference.

There's something disturbing about that, in my non-insider, unprofessional view.

As someone else said, what if Louisiana moved with them? That'd be great because you never know. What we do know is no P4 league would ever add a SBC school directly from the SBC.

But nonetheless, if they were to all go to Big12 or any other P4, then (1), the league is doing very well (2) would still be much better than the current SBC or the depleted SBC as was mentioned.

If Louisiana had gone independent 15 years ago, with a P5 schedule, the Big-12 would be home now.

    Its 100% about perception.

That particular ship has sailed however.

This is a common argument against PAC membership. It relies on the false premise that we wouldn't have options if the landscape changed on us. Accepting PAC membership does not stop us from accepting membership to a some other league down the road. I don't lose sleep over that.

What I do lose sleep over is us doing nothing with our rose colored glasses and the SBC gets picked apart by the AAC or some new league, and we end up in some SBC/CUSA mish mash. Just because we think that we will be included in some new regional lineup, doesn't mean it will happen, particularly if Tulane is there to block us, and don't kid yourself, they would certainly block us.

Unless there are drastic changes coming out of MH, WE ARE NOT GOING ANYWHERE. They are very comfortable with the status quo.

It might not last more than 10 years but you're positioning to be higher up the ladder. Remaining in SBC long term is playing not to lose. Usually that's how you lose.
    I agree 100% with this.

    That is simply not true.

I said from the beginning that unless it made financial sense and not some vague promise of an increase in media revenue 4 to 5 years down the road, it made very little sense to even campaign. There are a lot of people in this thread that don't understand the state is broke with hiring freezes until after the beginning of the next fiscal year.

UL hasn't raised enough NIL to keep softball and baseball players in the program. MBB has raised about half its goal and football is still trailing in its goal, but fans are wanting this athletic program to beg to leave the SBC. Unless some of the people in this thread turn into the next Cody Campbell and John Sellers, it's time to join reality and understand exactly where UL is headed, a regional conference alignment.

Seriously even with our facility upgrades can someone tell me why would they want UL in their conference? Baseball and Softball yes, but football and basketball drives everything and our attendance at home is atrocious. I feel we look at UL athletics unrealistically sometimes and need to come to terms that until fans show up and support the Cajuns like a MAJOR D1 team we will always settle for Sunbelt type conferences.....sorry my opinon
