If this is true, this could be a big loss for the SBC. Texas State is in a great market, solid athletics (not great, but good), great facilities with a good student enrollment and endowment. This will be disappointing if they leave the SBC.

Nice! Does this mean we will “own” a PAC 12 football team?!

Seriously a huge bummer. Would be just another sign that we’ll never be the ones leaving a conference for greener pastures, but one being left behind.

We aren't going anywhere with this administration's mindset. It should clear as day to everyone. Get comfortable. Authement culture is still going strong at Martin Hall. Doubt if I will see much of a change in my "golden years".

You're absolutely correct. UL Athletics has made incredible strides over the past decade, yet it still feels like it's going unnoticed when situations like this come up. Market size is often cited as a key factor in conference realignment, but that reasoning seems to only apply to us-Louisiana Tech joined CUSA despite a smaller market, and Utah State found their way into the PAC even with Logan, Utah being so isolated. It's unfortunate that UL’s market disadvantage continues to be emphasized.

Fans criticized Scott Farmer during the 2012-13 realignment cycle, and while some frustration was warranted, it’s important to recognize that Conference Realignment is a game of politics, influence, and institutional relationships that ultimately fall on university presidents. I love T-Joe and he has done remarkable work as UL’s president, but multiple waves of realignment have passed during his tenure without UL securing a stronger position. It does make you wonder if he has failed to develop the right relationships to position UL for future athletics success.

Read last night the new PAC 12 media deals are reportedly with TNT, ESPN, and CW. Good to see TNT flexing more into college sports.

Our, be the 2025 version of North Texas. I'll believe it when I see it.

I’ll take “Doesn’t really give a ____ about Cajuns athletics” for 500 Alex.

Yes, he got out of the way and let the RCAF be formed, which was better than his predecessor, but he’s also not really going to go out of his way to develop athletic conference based relationships. It is what it is. We are what we are.

Texas State’s President is a huge backer of athletics and truly believes that success in athletics can be a contributing factor to added interest in the university as a whole and contribute to keeping alumni engaged with their dollars.
