Marketing 101. Very few citizens are going to ride, walk, or drive from a farmers' market to a football game. Two entirely different types of citizens. And "walkability" is a word that should not exist. Anyone elected to public office who thinks tax dollars should be used for "improving walkability" obviously has too much money in her budget.

    Q. How many LCG workers does it take to improve walkability or a smiliar public works project around town?

    A. Five. One to do the actual work, two to play with their phones while standing off to the side (preferably in a shady spot), one to lean on a shovel, and another to nap in the truck that was driven to the jobsite.

Time for a change. Cut taxes. Doge the employee payroll. Start at the top.
Currently there are crews of 20+ installing sidewalks on Carmel heading to Breaux bridge from the pinhook intersection. Been working on it for weeks with no concrete put down as of yet …. No purpose to them other than pandering with our tax money

I've lived in walkable communities. It's great.

Going to take some serious money to make up for Lafayette's past and current lack of city planning, but it's something.

I love cities with town squares, particularly the way European cities do it. To fix Lafayette, we would need to relocate Downtown to the Horse Farm and make it bigger and better and more walkable.

Good luck with that, we have people around here who complain about walking across congress street after they just parked for free. Won’t be too many people walking from Cajun Field to Moncus or vice versa.

No one, and I mean no one, needs tax dollars to improve walk-ability. Take one foot, put it in front of the other. Repeat. We have way bigger problems in this town. Drainage. Traffic. Etc.

Try crossing Johnston at Bertrand WITH the pedestrian light and get back to me. People in cars are maniacs in this town

If you can make people believe walking is popULar ... everyone will do it.

As someone who rides a bicycle from time to time (at night when there is less traffic) , too many of these lazy ____s/ maniacs never use their turn signals. That’s a bigger safety issue than lack of sidewalks and bike paths

I'd love to ride my bike more, but even riding up on curbed sidewalks scares me in Lafayette. I love riding my bike in NOLA.

    Lots of good info here:

Thought about all the rabid non automotive crowd driving up 90 earlier. Crossover north of traffic signal in Broussard, there was a young man on an electric razor waiting to cross. Mensa isn’t in his future.
