Golf: Louisiana Shoots 2-Under Before Play Suspended at SBC Championships

Malan Potgieter and Eli Ortego each fired a 2-under-par 70 and the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Golf team was one of six schools to complete its round after the 2025 Sun Belt Conference Golf Championships was suspended on Monday due to inclement weather.

It is common belief, the golf gods get you back if a player (or team) has a particularly good day, the next day will likely be more challenging, as the golf gods, or whatever force is attributed to this, seek to balance things out. A-State is a pretty good team although my prediction is these golf gods will show the red wolfs the door today. Pas Bon for them today. My prediction, is they will not shoot anywhere near a -10 today. Were as the Cajuns had a decent day yesterday and somewhat normal and only two strokes out of 2nd place and things will tighten up in the team scoring today! Go Cajuns!

Only thing that matters is that the Cajuns finish in the top 4 in the group, once we do that then it is match play after that 1 v 4 and 2 v 3. Cajuns have as good of a chance as anyone if they are in the top 4. The SBC is a pretty good golf conference this year.

Now we are all alone in 4th, just ahead of Georgia State and Troy by 1 stroke and 5 strokes out of 3rd and 11 out of 1st. Just keep grinding.

Cajuns finish Rd 2 in a 4th place tie with Troy at +1. Five (5) strokes out of 3rd, Georgia Southern and trailing Covid Chickins by Eight (8). Tomorrow is the final day of Stoke Play and need to be in the top 4 to complete for the Championship on Thursday.

Eli is tied for 1st at -5 with a couple red wolf guys and Malan is tied for 4 with 3 other players.

We are going to finish the day in a tie with Troy for 4th place. 3 strokes ahead of Texas State and 5 strokes behind Georgia Southern. We need to finish strong tomorrow to make sure we qualify in the top 4. Troy is the statistically the best team in the conference and they are tied with us.

Everything goes back to ground zero for Match play with the top 4 teams, so as long as you finish in the top 4 you are good to go. Obviously, you want to finish as high as possible.
