In the current environment of NIL and transfer rules, does it matter? Do we expect to keep players for 4 years? Previous to Brown, the last top 100 nationwide recruit we had was Ty Harper. He did not get much playing time here but is doing well for Youngstown State now.

Beyond the Kevin Foote and Jay Walker interviews, Coach White has spoken to Jamarcus Fitzpatrick of Katc and Dave Schultz of Locked on Sun Belt. In each one of those he has said that one of his retention points will be that development skills of the staff is so strong that the players best chance of playing beyond college will be to stay here.

Considering players are leaving Houston right now, I would say it's possible. Basketball is a lot different than football in that your chances of moving "up" and actually playing are pretty slim. Look at the people that have transferred from UL the last few years. Jordan Brown is a prime example.

This article states his perimeter shot is not his strong point. I watched video of him and it appears technique is fine on his jumper. Probably needs slight refinement and more consistency. His handle is smooth and he finishes well with either hand at the basket.

I agree Coach White saying development skills by the staff will be a retention point is Coach speak. He had to answer something like that when asked. He was not going to say we have no chance at keeping good players. As far as the schools you mentioned, we will not keep players if they believe they will receive lots of playing time and significant NIL funds. However, we may be able to keep them if they are recruited to be bench guys at better known schools.

Lewis shot quite a few mid range shots in the video I saw. I bet we will see some of those next season. However, in one of his interviews Coach White said that guys will improve their 3 point percentage while here and we will shoot them as much as any other team. His key is rebounding. That will be a major focus of the staff, just like at Houston. On nights when shots are not falling, getting multiple shots per possession gives you a chance to win.

Houston is also considered a top 2-3 team next year which means they have significant talent coming in....

Maybe in your hyperbolic little world I called him out but he actually confirmed in his follow up response that he knew it was coach speak. I can appreciate the coach's desire to develop and retain players as EVERY coach should be looking to do this but we all know that when the bigger programs with bigger budgets come calling some of our better players, we have little to no chance to retain them and even coach Q knows that.
