"UL on Friday brought together more than 30 faculty members, researchers and students from the University, LSU, Tulane University, Jackson State University in Mississippi, the University of Alabama, and Tuskegee University."

That used up half the grant money right there

I guess it might seem that way from the outside.

To get the big grants, you study what the granting agency awards. They you put together a team... and you make sure you benefit more than your partners.

Like sports, it's a game of inches. Our faculty understand that, which is why UL is winning in research.

Most laymen, and even most faculty, have no idea of how the game is played. So we are fortunate that our faculty do.

Just re-implement what the Cajuns did in Nova Scotia from 1680-1755 and Louisiana should be in great shape.

BTW, a faculty member filled me in on this a bit. Apparently, many granting agencies won't fund you unless you bring in several institutions.
