    Nice.

With a program like that, Louisiana should take concessions in house.

Y'know, I am told you can grow grapes almost anywhere. Apparently we could grow fine varietals here, we just have to graft those better wine stocks onto our local wild muscadines.

It is all about the terroir. Too much loess, clay, bugs and water here. The vines have to "suffer" for nice wine. Although for the past few days we did have a nice pseudo "mistral" a blowin.

It was made by Jesuit priests, in I think Avoyelles parish, from tangerines...

A History of Wine in America
    Thomas Pinney

"In the exotic territory of Louisiana an Englishman, Colonel Ball, who settled some miles north of New Orleans on the banks of the Mississippi, managed to produce enough wine to send a sample of Louisiana claret or burgundy to King George III in 1775."

and later on in the book

"The last few years before the war saw a grape mania in the South quite as intense as the one sweeping the North at the same time. Vineyards large and small sprang up in Mississippi, Alabama, and Louisiana, as well as in the older seaboard states and in the less cotton-dominated states of Kentucky and Tennessee."

I know of a few wineries around Covington and Hammond, what would be the closest winery to Acadiana?
