I don't recall the hitting being hyped this past preseason. There may have been hyping up of the pitching staff, but we knew we were going to have to fill some experienced holes in the lineup and in the infield. We were HOPING highly recruited Markle or Ardoin could fill the DeBarge gap.
And maybe one of them might eventually. Markle seemed to show promise at the plate and the field before his injury, but we'll see.
I didn't expect us to be this regressed from last year, but I also didn't think this was a team in the running for a possible high 2-seed like the previous season.
