I’m not one to ridicule our team, but, infielders, clutch hitting, inconsistency
basically everywhere , Relief pitching, no killer instincts. Very disappointing.
Do you realize, we’re 15-15, with what 26 games left, it would seem we’d need 39+games to have a chance even to get invited without winning the SBC tournament, that means we need to be 24 of 26. Can’t see that. We got to win the SBC TOURNAMENT, that’s it.
Question, are you enjoying this team, as much as I want them to win, I got to be truthful, I’m not enjoying this team
Unfortunately, I expect this to be the future going forward.
It's going to be very difficult to get great defense on a team full of freshmen and first-year transfers, and every Trahan or Debarge we unearth going forward is going to be aggressively sought after by schools with infinite resources.
Might as well just try to build a team that can out-hit any team in any night, and try to win every game 13 to 12.
I think most people including Coach Deggs will say they are disappointed on how this season has played out. But I also thought this season would be a rebuilding year from underneath with 23 freshmen and sophomores on the roster. They have already signed another large group of freshen in the next class because they see an opportunity to build underneath developing high school athletes because LSU is recruiting more nationally.
A good indication on what the NIL market looks like is former Ragin Cajun Jack Martinez receiving $50K in NIL to sign with Arizona after pitching mediocre in the SBC.
Not to mention that 2 of the non-freshman starters (Markle and Yuhasz), the returning All American Friday night guy (Morgan) and far and away the best reliever (Theut) have all missed significant time in the first half of the season….that has seen them play a top 15 schedule.
This team, if it can get healthy, still has a chance to have a good year. If they can get to 20+ conference wins, with the schedule they’ve played, an at-large bid isn’t out of the question.
The 2 series against the Georgia teams and the one at S. Miss will be key. Hopefully, the roster is healthy by that time.
Until then, just keep winning weekends
