Grew up in the lower 9th ward of New Orleans. Always very competitive with his older brother. Played lots of ball in shady playground areas and was a relentless competitor. Growing up in that area made him tough and never give up. Played JC ball prior to his time at OK. Lots of support from his family as was evident at the introductory press conference on Friday.
Tells his players that he works for them and not the university. Develops his players both on and off the court.

…..Well another Purple Knight for the Cajuns…..Louis Age and son, Leroy Boudreaux, the great catcher(??)…..these guys started it and then Kobe’s dad Wayne Julian followed all the Football guys from the St Aug crew…..Uh hun that’s right ….they are the Purple Knights……my son in law remembers getting whipped by our new coach and the St Augies when he played at Rummel!
