Unfortunately, we'll never get that type of energy out of Martin Hall. At least not with the current characters.

that’s the type of energy UL needs
    Agree.

It wasn’t just WW. It was a concerted effort of seizing a flash in the pan moment. They grabbed the best PR hire available, like him or not.

I’d take Coach Q first any day, but that’s the type of energy UL needs. Winning fast and building upon it.
At the time of the hire, Will Wade was a risk not worth taking. And I still say that. I don’t think people understand the risk of a show-cause hire.

Yes they get to be the flavor of the month for a couple days now. What if it is determined McNeese committed NCAA infractions under Wade’s watch?

The answer, for a mid-major, is long-term penalties that could devastate the program.

Not saying shouldn’t make a major investment in your major sport hires. But Will Wade wasn’t the guy.

    Like what?

Michigan is paying an incoming freshman $5 Million, and there was even a Wall Street Journal article about how he was bought away from LSU. There's no rules anymore.

NCAA still has rules beyond paying players. Academics, recruiting, etc. Any violations by a show-cause coach results in stiffer penalties.

NC State won’t have this problem as his show-cause is done after this season. There’s a reason he didn’t get hired after last year.

I would say this, Marlin should have been let go 7 years ago. Now we woke up and try to play catch up.

It is almost too late , damage has been done to the program. It has also effected the fan base.

Agreed, 14 years of mediocrity is worse than two years of dismal.

    No automatic extensions.

Marlin seemed to always, produce at the best time for his contract extentions.

I hate to say it but what they've done in Lake Chuck is encouraging. The Southland is a one bid league and McNeese State had not been to the dance in 2 decades prior to last year. A coach that, rightly or wrongly, understands what it takes to compete in today's game turned them around instantaneously. Get the community interested, get donor backing and get transfers that can contribute immediately. There's the coaching thing too. Have to know what you're doing.

With the state of Sun Belt basketball, Coach White has an opportunity to make an immediate impact. I'm optimistic, for once
