Defense wins championships. My opinion, defense has taken a back door in today's age basketball. Dont even get me started on the NBA.

My opinion, Marlin's teams were above average defensively. Most teams did play hard on the defensive side regardless of skill level. Now offensively, almost all were terrible.

If you have watched Coach Sampson's teams at Oklahoma and now Houston, he is defensive oriented first. Love to push the ball off up the court off turnovers. I think there still is a scholarship signing limit for college MBB. He won't be able to flip the entire roster his first year at UL, but you should see a much better defensive team providing he lands what he wants in his first class. Both early signees with UL can sign elsewhere if they wish from my understanding.

Expect to see a faster paced offense with more points scored in transition.

As someone said, you will see better talent highlighted by guard players. More opportunities to play above the rim with our post players .

He will succeed if UL puts the necessary resources behind the program. We can build a tournament team with a $1,000,000 NIL budget. That's what it takes to compete in today's NCAA basketball landscape.

Geaux, they have committed to helping him with more NIL. That was part of the final agreement from what I've heard. But like every other head coach in UL Athletics, he has to take some responsibility in helping raise NIL funds for his own program.

I look forward to hearing his vision and process moving forward. He's a great hire on the basketball side, but he will need to sale his program begging with getting the Greeks, Reddots and the rest of the students back into the Dome. He will also need to engage the community as well on his vision for this program. I'm looking forward to him laying out his vision.

Marlin flipped the roster almost every year.

Glad I already have season tickets. Seat selection was awesome last year.

As a long time UL basketball fan, I am very excited with this hire. Kudos to Maggard and the administration getting it done. Hopefully Coach White will bring back the excitement that was once Ragin Cajun basketball.

    Spot on T.

One would assume his longtime running mate (Hollis Price) will join him. They played together in high school and college, built an AAU program, and coached together at U of H.

I also wouldn't be surprised to see Quannas bring his younger brother (Josh) along with him. Josh has paid his dues working under Johnny Jones at Texas Southern. He was a standout at Christian Life during their title runs.

Would love to see an older veteran with deep Acadiana ties on his bench.

    Exciting times.

We will be getting four season tickets just to support the new coach. We will try to make as many as we can and will give the tickets away at no charge for the games we can't make.

Haven't been able to read through this thread yet, but pumped up. He's from the NO[LA] so well aware of our program's capabilities. Other than that, I know nothing, yet. I like it though.

    Next era of Cajuns Basketball.

Man, imagine first home game of the season with 5k+ fans. Would be a statement from the community, I’ll be there.

Exactly, unless Tillman gave him a boatload of cash as a parting gift. That’s a harsh reality, Tillman Fertitta is pouring $ into UH basketball. And it isn’t an option at Louisiana.
