Cajun men flourish, Cajun women fall
Brad Boyd hot already with 27 in exhibition.

LOUISIANA La. — There was a time, with 5:13 remaining in the first half Thursday night, when Delta State trailed Louisiana by a mere 33-31.

But the Ragin’ Cajuns poured in the next 16 points and cruised into halftime with a commanding 49-31 advantage en route to a 94-69 exhibition victory before 2,116 fans at the Cajundome.

“We were not making our free throws, and we were not comfortable going against their zone,” Cajun coach Jessie Evans said. “Once we got comfortable, we started to knock down some shots.

“They got a little winded, and they let Brad Boyd get loose. He made some 3’s, and when a player starts making those it can deflate an opponent.”

Boyd was deadly from long range all night, scoring 27 points by draining 8-of-14 3-pointers and adding three free throws when fouled on another trey.
