You are one of the few who remember that. A group of us realized that Cajuns & Creoles hate missing a party. If they saw tailgating along the fence, they'd join us.

So we began tailgating under the Eauque™. When we started, we were so isolated out there that even Nolan Ryan couldn't have hit another tailgater with a fastball.

We were right. It grew so big that we had to start paying for the Eauque. Then they subdivided it into 4 lots. Then it just got to be too crowded and way too loud, too much rowdiness.

Back when we started, I told people that the time would come that we would miss those days. They laughed at me.

May you live in interesting times.
    May important people notice you.
May the gods grant all your wishes.

One acorn will become a thousand year old Oak.

Only to those who see what it can become, protect it, and let grow.

    Only to those who believe.

After reading this thread I realized, the Cajundome could benifit from the use of some really tall trees.

Are you sure? I am 55 and don’t remember them there as a kid. I thought they were planted closer to the time I was in college?

This is a very silly take. Once fully completed, Cajun Field will rank top tier amongst all G5 Football Stadiums and will be superior to some P5 Stadiums.

Here's what we know: this is 1970 or '71. Possibly 72? West concrete appears at least 4 seasons (weather not FTBL) weathered. At an absolute minimum of 50 years is the age of the Swamp Oaks. All estimates of course, nothing concrete certain.

I think you are right; I can't yet see the hedges that used to line the inside stadium wall. Also, the parking area doesn't look much used. So this is probably a very early picture, maybe right after construction.
