I am with you 100%. I'm going to spend way less money this year for sure. Already rarely bought anything at the concession stand. This year, I plan to buy nothing. Only thing I'm purchasing are Mr. Vick's peanuts.
I have to wonder how long it will be before they run him out of the stadium. Hopefully never since Robe made him his own spot but I cant help but wonder.
The room was built for Mr . Vic’s but a few years ago , Sodexho hijacked it for them . There once was a peanuts sign by the door but now it says concessions . So now they’re in control of the room !
The Sodexo contract is for ALL food & cleaning services on campus. Much bigger than just the sporting events. And any other vendors must go through Sodexo to provide services/product.
If I remember correctly there was discussion a few years back about breaking out food services for sporting events and basically didn't get any takers.
Think about this. Right now restaurants have a difficult time providing staff. Try staffing for events as random as UL sports.
I think there is a way to make things work but it is going to take some ingenuity and salesmanship. In my opinion the primary University wide contract should require the provider to provide a set list of services and products. It needs to be enough to make it worth while and should include all beverages and certain basic food products. A specific carve out for local vendors should then be allowed that does not require permission from the main provider for alternate food products that are not part of the primary contract.
A school with a Hospitality Management degree should be able to handle all this and more in-house as part of the curriculum.

I recall someone indicating that Sodexo has the food contract for the entire University. UL should separate food service on campus from athletic concession service! On campus they are dealing with a relative captive audience in students. On the other hand, athletics should be trying to attract business from the general public who has choices and money to spend.
I used to eat and drink at UL athletic events all of the time. Now I do all I can to avoid spending money at games. The food is bad, the drinks are nothing special and the prices for everything is ridiculous.
This weekend, I stopped at Judice Inn before the game Friday and ate TWO cheeseburgers, chips and a drink for around $15. Much better and more food for a much better price, then drank a couple of beers in the parking lot prior to going into the park! I went into the stadium with a full belly and very happy and didn't spend another dime inside.
There are multiple other places right near the athletic complex that are available for a variety of similar experiences from game-to-game! As a matter of principal I refuse to pay the ridiculous prices that UL/Sodexo want to charge for a very bad and poor product.
