    Default ESPN+

    Help

So how does ESPN + work, if UL has multiple sports playing on the same day. I tried watching baseball and they were not schedule for viewing. Could it be based on UL not having enough broadcasters to do each game or what?

With baseball and softball being played at same time, Bball at night, does ESPN+ limit the number of broadcast per day we can show.

Your first paragraph answered your question. That and lack of money.

Also, despite what people here may prefer, our contract calls for all men’s and women’s basketball games to be streamed. They take priority over diamond sports early in season.

Basketball only has one home game left, Wed, 2/26/25 so it shouldn’t be much of an issue going forward.

Why cant they run a video feed with no audio or link up the radio call

Even if a few seconds delayed

Having just one game broadcast of a 3 game series with a top 25 team (next weekend vs Nebraska), and with the contractual issues with basketball having nothing to do with it, is just embarrassing.

We always talk about wanting to be “big time” but we apparently can’t afford to have a softball and baseball broadcast on the same day. It screams “small time”…and rightfully so.

And with all due respect to the softball program, and their die hard fans here, a baseball game vs a top 25 team being preempted by a softball game against Kansas City College is next level clown show stuff.

They have hired a crew to broadcast 2 games at once. Our crew does a game and the other covers whatever else we choose. I remember someone mentioned a price tag a few years back. I don’t want to get it wrong and it may have changed over the years, but was in the low to mid 5 figures. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

Anyway, university is choosing not to broadcast for one reason or another. Assuming that $12 million deficit has something to do with it.

Cameras are set up and working at The Tigue even when games aren’t being broadcast. Finding a couple students and/or former players to add some commentary can’t be that difficult or expensive.

    Yet…here we are.

I know no matter what I say you guys aren't going to be satisfied. But here we go.

    1. No budget to hire an outside crew to do the games.
    2. We are going to broadcast an equal number of softball and baseball games.
    3. Just putting camera or two and hiring students as broadcasters is below ESPN+ Standards...and ours.

Like I said, this won't satisfy you all. But this is what this is.

Meanwhile, even the field mic worked fine yesterday on radio. Have a great Sunday. Dress warmly if you're coming to the ball park.

And, for the gentleman who said this makes us look small time. We stream more events than any non-power conference in America. I guarantee you that ISN'T small time.

A phone on a stand behind home plate. Steam it on social media or YouTube. That’s pretty much sums up the McNeese State broadcasts.

Folks that aren’t able to be there would probably be very appreciative of that.
