Has anyone heard any other names? This is a pretty solid group of coaches with experience to choose from. I would be willing to bet others have applied.

Last I heard, Byron is HC at Baton Rouge Community College. Went there after LSU-E shut down their basketball program.

While I can't imagine he'd be a finalist because he was here with Bob. Kevin Johnson has done very well so far as head coach at Southern. In his first year, he went 18-14 with road wins over UNLV and Mississippi State. This year, he is 14-8 and 9-0 in conference with road wins over LaTech and Tulsa.

I think for anyone saying the candidates who have coached here with Bob won’t get consideration need to look at that the teams did when they were here with Bob. Context matters.

I am pretty sure that the fact someone coached under Bob Marlin would NOT be a deal breaker to Dr. Maggard. In Kevin Johnson's case I am certain it would not be. He has turned Southern's program around with few resources. I am not saying he will be hired. I am saying he is very qualified for the position.
