But, they put an xtra L once so now I don’t want to support them” and in turn, UL lose even more money in the long run should they cancel they’re sponsorship.
I think if anything this thread has shown that this is not a “once” thing. I started the thread on Feb 1st and people reported seeing this before then and have seen it numerous times since then, including today. I won’t advocate one way or the other on how folks should spend their money. The simple fact remains that a long running sponsor within earshot of the athletic complex should know better. If the low paid staff working don’t know better, it’s on their boss to inform them. I’m not placing a value judgement on these people as humans. Easily corrected mistakes should be corrected. I would have thought with premium competition opening right across the street this place would want to risk running off as few folks as possible. Guess not. Like you said, “to each their own.”

Then the onus is on the business, not any fan base who is needlessly made to feel uncomfortable.

They gain nothing with obstinate marketing.

You forgot, "___ more days til the start of LSU baseball"

You sponsor UL athletics ffs. Why would you put that over
"x many days til the start of UL baseball"?
And the ULL thing... It's not that its once or twice, happening. But when the other L is removed, they go through the effort of replacing it. That's very much intentional. C'mon

Yea, I've said it on here a few times, but once one of their locations refused to put a Cajun away game audio on the speakers in deference to LSU's game. I was done.

Said that to me with a straight face with a big "Proud sponsor of Louisiana athletics" on the wall right on the side of me.

I have to admit: this is the first I read of the LSU posting. Maybe I missed it in the is thread. I do agree with you all that that’s BS.

With that said, and this is pure message board talk here as I have 0 clue of the situation, but what if yard goat offered UL more money than legends for the sponsorship and the university told them they had to match or beat yard goat $ to keep the official sponsor title. Would you be ____ed that we advocate supporting local all the time yet let outside owners come in and kick you to the side after supporting the program for years??

I know where you going with this and somewhat agree. I would not think he is hands off. I just think his business has grown so much he had to step away from the details. Has to focus on running a "corporation" and let managers run the individual locations.

My response to that is that they weren't doing much besides just paying to be the official sponsor. No social media presence pushing for UL away game watch parties. Countdown to LSU games on Pinhook Legends signage. My anecdotal experience at the new location on Verot where an LSU game audio was given preference over UL.

So, if your hypothetical is the truth then they have no sympathy from me.

Sir, you quoted and directly responded to my post where I specifically mentioned the lsu countdown.

Look I’m not a big name guy. I couldn’t care less if someone trolls us by calling us ull or u lala or lafayette. But when you are an official sponsor of “Louisiana athletics” yet promote lsu athletics while at the same time calling us ull on your signs that’s not gonna sit right with me. It’s not gonna sit right with a lot of people. It’s pretty simple to understand.

IF Legend’s is doing this out of spite (again like you, I’m not saying they are, but hypothetically), I don’t see how that’s gonna lead anyone to increased sympathy for Legend’s in this situation. In the current market where every little thing (including boudin) has an official sponsor, there is plenty of room for hurt feelings within the business community. Taking those hurt feelings and lashing out against UL when you still have a loyal customer base of UL supporters who fill your business on a regular basis (particularly the one near the athletic complex that I originally posted about) is a very strange “____ off” those customers. Also, with the accounts others have posted of the LSU advertisements, I don’t see how they would have much of a leg to stand on in moral superiority of “supporting local.” IMO, this is either a glaring oversight that continues to happen or very childish if what you suggested is the case. Either way: bad business.

Yeah when you have a business partnership/sponsorship with a business/school maybe you should respect the brand (UL/Louisiana) they go by, otherwise thats just bad business relationship practice

If you know we don't like to be called ULL, then it is common courtesy to use UL.
