Thread: 2025 Baseball Roster

  1. UL Baseball 2025 Baseball Roster

It appears that the official roster is up on ragincajuns.com it had previously been the Fall Roster. Now that it is officially up, do any of you experts have any thoughts on what the starting lineup will look like. I know a few spots are locked and loaded, like Torres at Catcher and Caleb Stelly in one of the OF positions. I would assume Sam Ardoin as SS, Lee Amadee at either DH or 1st or 3rd Base, Owen Galt could compete for an IF position, Yuhasz probably competing for DH and part-time OF. Conner Higgs at one OF position. I think Friday night starter is set at Chase Morgan and probably one of the weekend starters in Andrew Hermann.

    Thoughts?

Dont sleep on Blaine Lucas for a shot at 2B.

Whoever steps up for the middle infield has some really big shoes to fill.

DeBarge and JT were both very good for us.

I’m actually thinking Markle will be SS, Ardoin likely 2B.

I stopped by to check on practice recently and that is what I witnessed. Connor Cuff was at 1st as well.

In the fall games vs. SHSU and LSU

    It was
    Markle SS
    Brooks Wright DH
    Stelly CF
    Amadee 1B/3B
    Torres C
    Higgs LF
    Yuhasz RF
    Cuff 3B/1B
    Ardoin 2B

Lots can change between the fall and spring, though. The coaches really like IF Blaine Lucas and Owen Galt. Both are very good defensively. It will be interesting to see if/when their bats translate.

The freshman class as a whole is as talented as any we've had. These guys are all VERY athletic. I have a feeling a LOT of them are going to play this year in some capacity.

McGehee has locked down the third weekend starter role.

For me, the quality depth of the pitching staff is going to be key. Hermann, Morgan and Holzhammer were held out this fall. Hammer, if he's totally healthy, can be a lights out late innings guy.

We have lefties in the bullpen. Dylan Theut will be the Swiss Army Knife. Use him in any role you need. Parker Dilhoff (JC) and Matt Gaither both can bring it. Gaither has to throw strikes. It was an issue at Wilmington and at times in the fall. Add Riley Marcotte and Maddox Mandino and you have five options from the left side.

RHP J.R. Tollett is healthy and he's going to help out of the pen. JC Alex Rosario has great stuff. Freshman Will Taylor (STM) and two way performer Parker Smith can both crank it up 93+.

There are more that the coaches like, but, based on what I saw in the fall (and I was there quite a bit), those seem to be the most likely names. But I expect quite a few more will get some innings.

For those of you who are unaware, RHP Murphy Brooks has had TJ and will not pitch this year.

    Fan Day is February 1.

I was going to ask about Morgan. Is he a full go this spring?

The new white uniforms they posted are beautiful. Too bad our school doesn’t sell replicas like other places do.
