For some reason, this HAS to be Albineaux or bust for several folks in this thread. Not that there should be a mascot in general, but it HAS to be an alligator with a skin condition and named after the skin condition even though people aren't rocking with the name. I truly don't get it.
We need to change the narrative from it being a skin "condition." Ewe. To being on the far end of the melanin spectrum. Wow.

If you go to the poll page on this site you will see we have done dozens of mascot polls over the past 22 years.

No one is stuck in a rut, the vast majority just got on board (concept wise) the latest effort, which happens to embody everything about UL ... inclusion.

We should have a female gator also, call her Aleauxpecia.

Albinism being a condition is not a narrative.

You cant catch it and it is nothing to be ashamed of.

Its on one end of the spectrum that has the entire planet on it from Swedish to Indian and everthing in between or beyond.

The narritive is that it should be avoided.

How flexible should a "campaign" be?

Just because someone touts the virtues of something doesn't mean they are opposed to other ideas.

Nothing about UL screams a white alligator. That is not hard to understand.

Being unable to catch it and it being nothing to be ashamed of have nothing to do with the fact that it is a condition. It IS a genetic condition that can have long-term health implications for those affected by it. That poses at least a reasonable question as to if it should be used as the cheeky nickname for a school’s mascot. The problem is that reasonable discussion doesn’t occur when the creator of the idea is brushed aside.
