I don’t see how changing the portal dates will stop bowl opt-outs. But I agree, at this point, anything to regulate this madness is a step in the right direction.
It is, but I see issues with timing coming up. Especially with so many schools starting spring semester during this time. Someone (lawyers) will make an argument that by moving the window it is infringing on the player's right to transfer to a new university, enroll successfully, and continue their education without interruption.
It may not, but it could delay them announcing their decision until after the bowl game. I watched too many bowl games that the product on the field was reduced because of players bought before the bowl game. Here at UL that means a player not having to enter the portal before the bowl game could possibly play in the game. Especially if the decision to jump in the portal is not told to the staff until the window opens.
Bowl for majority is the end of season. Stupid to have portal involved in any way before the season is over. Those who opt out/quit on team before season's end......that's their business.
