That’s the thing I’ve been hung up on. There’s this oddly defiant attitude about it from folks here which isn’t winning anyone over. For example, Cory openly said in the baseball fan group on fb “You don’t have to like the character. You don’t have to like that it is happening, but it is happening” and never responded to some big RCAF donors who expressed concerns about the name and overall concept.
This *maybe* could’ve gotten some traction if they were approached privately and worked with him, but after giving him a fairly clear “thanks but no thanks” message last year, they clearly expected him to move on before it turned into a “guys email these specific people” campaign, which never works.
All this over a mascot.
Like I said in a previous post, all this hullabaloo is due to an alum filling a vacuum created by the University's silence and inaction on this. Our university is great at silence.
