The young man needed help in so many ways. He didn't get it for one reason or another. I'm sure it happens more often than we care to admit, but we just don't hear about it. Life can be a four letter word sometimes.
People in Lacy's, and similar positions, can't get help unless they really WANT it.
It's hard to say without knowing all the facts. I lost a family member on the 3rd when she decided to take her own life. She suffered great after surgery from a serious auto accident
a number of years ago. She had lived in constant pain since, her marriage suffered from it and a number of family members tried to get her help and she just spiraled. Sadly, her only child is getting married next month, and she won't be there.
If Lacy indeed suffered from mental illness, I hope his family, UL and LSU tried to get him help at some point. Either way, sadly his family has to live with his final actions.
It's hard to say if the events of the last several months had caused his mental health to rapidly decline or if he was on a roller coaster of emotions due to the pending court date. He takes off after the argument and police start chasing him and in that moment he may have felt hopeless and made the choice to end his life. I pray for the family of Kyren Lacy that they find healing.
