The concept of a Gator as our mascot is right on target. Why can't we simply use the red/white gator mascot because of our school colors and not use the Albineaux name reference, which is problematic for many people? There is so much we can do with a Gator mascot and connect the tradition of an on-campus Swamp with the stadium Swamp. Everything that has been created is great, except for the Albineaux name. Go with Louie and Ana to capture our LOUISIANA name or something else we can agree on. Let's not kill the opportunity to have a great mascot for UL.

There is a level of absurdity to a fictitious Albineaux sideline character, but no more than there is to 90% of all sideline characters and certainly an equal match to a Black Panther mascot the other end of the melanin spectrum. One people see as normal, one people see as defective. They are one in the same.

I’ve been saying this since I started chiming in last week - the pro-Albineaux crowd is so hopelessly married to the concept as-is and they won’t hear any criticisms of the concept as it is.

The only person that I have seen be unwavering on the albino aspect is the creator. I am pro-gator. And I am pro-gator solely for an in-game mascot and fun kid apparel merch.

Even the color is a pretty terrible idea. A white mascot will be a brown mascot by the end of the season.
