It's just a mascot/spirit leader, id rather admin spend their time worrying about improving facilities and hiring the right coaches. I would put the mickey mouse suit on the bottom of the to-do list.

The athletic admin is focused on improving facilities and hiring coaches. Their responsibility is NOT deciding on a mascot. That falls to the Communications & Marketing department in Martin Hall, which has a headcount of 21. So yes, we should be able to walk and chew gum at the same time.

Bingo! This is completely out of the control of athletics.

They left it there so long it's in the public domain.

In 2002 fans washed the entire football and baseball stadiums.

It was the perfect way to get something done that wasn't going to get done.

The difference then was Bustle got on board and helped and Martin Hall didn't interfere.

I think this really distills what I've been saying. It's an inflexibility on the part of this campaign that really gets me. A ton of folks do support it, obviously. But again, several major RCAF donors, alums, some non-communications university officials (on their personal pages), expressed hesitance with both the name and overall concept of Albineaux.

For some reason, this HAS to be Albineaux or bust for several folks in this thread. Not that there should be a mascot in general, but it HAS to be an alligator with a skin condition and named after the skin condition even though people aren't rocking with the name. I truly don't get it.

We need to change the narrative from it being a skin "condition." Ewe. To being on the far end of the melanin spectrum. Wow.

If you go to the poll page on this site you will see we have done dozens of mascot polls over the past 22 years.

No one is stuck in a rut, the vast majority just got on board (concept wise) the latest effort, which happens to embody everything about UL ... inclusion.
