Doesn't hurt that they also have former players that can do it during the season. I can almost guarantee you it's more due to that than anything. You can't tell me all these players are landing there right after announcing their intentions to enter the portal unless they already have offers. Talent-wise that's a lateral move and why would they do that when if they have the option to do like a Lacy and go to a contender?
The biggest difference is the Cost of Attendance, Chriss never played with Glass. Houston's Cost of Attendance for out of State students is $32K, UL isn't close to that number. According to staff Chriss left for an additional $20K to $30K in NIL. The largest difference being the Cost of Attendance.
Well, they are not buying starters from P4s, the majority are players like Howard and Sampson. The difference is they are buying starters from the SBC and G5s, more to the point our starters. They have more NIL but what is helping them is the Cost Of Attendance $32K for out of state athletes. UL is not close to that number. Notice they are not buying starters from Tulane because the Wave can match their Cost of Attendance.
Plus he has this NIL hook…come visit me in Italy.

I think you guys are making an assumption that because Fertitta is a supporter he is giving millions to Houston for NIL. From what I heard, that is not the case. They have way more than UL, but it's not millions.
BTW, they have bought starters from UAB, UL, Southern Miss and Tulsa. That doesn't sound like big time players to me.
