I have many friends that live there that share the sentiment being stated here. They stay in their areas and don’t venture into the areas where all of this stuff happens. It’s gotten completely out of hand…even before this tragic event.

Murder rate per capita. NOLA was #1 a few years ago.

Had the bollards been in the holes on canal and bourbon , the Islamic Terrorist Could not have made It past them. But since they removed them for an "upgrade," the police should have had THREE vehicles -NOT TWO - -OR SOMETHING ELSE- preventing access by vehicle down bourbon.
    POOR PLAN!
    Understand?

Well, it sounds like this A-- hole got what he sought from most of this bunch. Why say this? Out of 53 previous posts, about 3 lay the blame where it belongs, at the hands of an insane POS home grown maniac. About 5 more posts at least try to show empathy with the families of the victims. But the rest? Oh how willing are we to jump on & blame those in positions of service & security for not being insane enough to estimate the complete insanity of a mad man which our tax dollars helped train to become the killer that he was.

Bollards, or not, this moron would have tried to pull this stunt on another street had this street been tank proofed. What difference does it make whether it was Frenchman Street, or Canal, or any other street in any city in America? Until you can fix stupid, this problem is going to only get worse from here on out. Having said that, once again, the people in law enforcement in & around the affected area were doing & always seem to do a pretty damn good job of trying to keep a lot of people under the influence of a lot of alcohol & many other substances as safe as possible & I think they did as great of a job as possible under the existing circumstances in which we live today. I also thank the city for going forward with the game ASAP & not allowing this idiot & those who would follow his example the opportunity to get the only thing they seek; to make as many other people as miserable in this world as they are. My heart also goes out to the families of all the people who were hurt, or killed by this psycho. Personally, I don't think anybody else deserves one iota of blame, or criticism for this one person's hatred & murderous treachery.

Well said, Kyle. Maybe one of the best thoughts I've ever read on this board.

(And people don't stop to think this could very well have been exponentially worse.)
