Young up and coming coach with COLLEGE COACHING experience, understands the current landscape, one who can recruit NATIONALLY and can energize a fan base. I get the “people will come back to Cajundome if we hire Brad” narrative, but we also said that with Dez and we still have an empty stadium. Let the new coach build his own staff and give him the support he deserve from the university and fan base. Let him build this program his way. With the current state of the program, we have a big opportunity to have a something we’re proud of again. Bob was here for 15 years. If we make an average hire again, we could be stuck with him for years and it could be a long time before we get to hire a new head coach.

Again, I don’t know Brad at all and I’m sure he’s a great guy, but he’s not our future. It’s not personal, this is a business and more importantly an huge investment for UL. We gotta stop thinking and settling for small time and start thinking and expecting big time.
Sorry, but Des and Brad are miles apart on personality.

BS everyone doesn't publicly state that.

Pathetic. Simply pathetic. Grasping at straws.

And the consensus of the fan base was definitely not claiming that Dez would fill up Cajun Field just by being local like the previous poster is claiming.

I'm super happy Des has worked out as a great hire but he's not the Hud rah rah type to go out in the community. Brad Boyd does bring some of that element that is sorely needed with MBB right now

Jessie is only 74 does he still want to coach?

I’ve been hearing rumblings of a name pop up in town.

Cord Wright - Lafayette Native - STM Graduate.

Head coach currently at Northeast Mississippi JUCO - Reigning coach of the year.

Went 27-5 last year and is off to a 19-0 start this year.

71-4 record over his last 75 home games and 45-5 in his last overall 50 games.

Guys young, has spent years in the conference before as an assistant and has been the head guy at Northeast now for sometime - most importantly - he WINS

Juco coaches in this era of college sports with the portal are going to benefit from their experience of having to reload each year.

His dad played ball for the Cajuns back in the 70s.

He is well connected in the community.

Heard his name bounced around from several who are in the know. He is one to watch.
