UL Basketball NET Rankings for SBC MBB, WBB 12/30/24

I believe that a reasonable expectation for the conference as a whole [both Men and Women] is to have all teams in the top 200 NET. As one can see from the above, only 5 Men's programs and 8 Women's programs currently meet that standard.

It is clear that the women [conference wide] schedule tougher games OOC than the men do.

Until all conference teams play tougher OOC schedules, not only will the conference be a 1 bid conference, that one bid will be seeded no better than 14.

The SBC is where it is because in large degree that is where it choses to be. The conference needs to set a tougher scheduling standard and the programs all need to meet it.

Throwing out the top 5 teams, rest of league has a combined OOC record of 24-67 in D1 games. That means the overwhelming majority of the league cannot compete against the schedule they currently have.

This league has a lot more problems than scheduling.

We (SBC) collectively suck at beating mediocre to bad teams....absolutely pointless to "schedule up" until we are capable of dominating Southland teams on our HOME part of schedule......

The SBC going to 14 members is a total different dynamic than 10 teams or even less in the SLC and American South days. In a one bid league, that’s a tough ask. All it takes is a bottom tier team gets hot in March and your champ sits home. MBB at UL unfortunately has fallen on par with WBB. 5th place average finish with CBM and CGB, but a handful more people care about MBB.

That’s today’s reality. Bo, Andrew, BB Davis, Calvin Natt, Dumars, the Mailman and the like aren’t going to be found in the SBC in 2025. And haven’t been in a very long time. I can’t think of one SBC regular roster active player in the NBA. That’s a problem.

And speaking of the NBA, they got smoked by Netflix, a streaming service, on Christmas Day viewership wise. It just might be the product and atmosphere, and may correlate to college ball.

We've risen...out of the basement. Thanks to both ULmost and Old Dominion for doing us a solid and sucking worse!

Didn’t want to start a new thread, here’s some SBC related NBA data when I was looking if the SBC had any active players in the NBA.

35 SBC players have played in the NBA. Over half played for former members.

Conference is 48 years old. Louisiana had 3.

A former SBC player from Denver is active.

NBA retirement plan. EP qualifies, and explains why he plays every chance he can.

Have I earned a Year of Service?

“Players need to be on the NBA Active or Inactive List at least one day during the Regular Season.“

Orien Greene is probably close to be being able to draw if he wants.
