The letter was ok, but there should have been a “Thanks to Dr. Bryan Maggard” in that message as well. He did work under Dr. Maggard for 7 years and also had his contract extended TWICE under him.

Honestly this was pretty well done on Marlin’s part. Those who are in the know had already formed their opinion, so his choices of who to acknowledge in the letter didn’t surprise anyone. On the other hand, the casual fan probably had the reaction of “oh he’s such a good guy!”. Therefore, his perception goes up in total.
