Detectives have arrested Marc Archangel (26) of Lafayette and charged him with Attempted 2nd Degree Murder. The victim remains hospitalized in stable condition. The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
Police Investigate Morning Shooting
On April 15, 2010, at approximately 6:20 am, officers with the Lafayette Police Department responded to the intersection of West Congress Street and Bertrand Drive regarding a shooting. Information from witnesses indicates that two men were inside of a vehicle at the intersection when one of the men jumped out of the vehicle with a handgun and fired multiple shots at the driver. The vehicle sped off, but was later located near the intersection of West Simcoe and Delord Street. The driver had multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to an area hospital in moderate condition. The shooter was taken into custody by officers at the scene and transported to the Lafayette Police Department for questioning. The cause of the shooting remains under investigation.
