If that were the case you would not see coaches with 3 or more years left losing players to the portal.
Nowhere has this been shown to be the case. Im not talking about when a coach actually leaves. All bets are off.
Players just want to play, #1 consideration.
After they are playing "where can I play for money?" becomes the new #1 consideration.
Considering how long a coach is going to be there is not at the top of the heap.
It's a low return, high obligation ROI for a university, which results in 15-year tenures for below average coaches. Why? They never feel pressure to perform.
I do think Desormeaux is self motivated.
Time only matters to a few high school recruits. It’s the $$$ that matter once they hit campus. After watching FB after #3 hit the portal, education and playing close to home weren’t high on his family’s radar.
After they are already playing, "where can I play for money?" becomes the new #1 consideration.
I think sitting out does them no favors, but that is not the guidence they are given.
I see it as low self confidence (and handler confidence) in that they don't want to damage their existing playability credibility.
How much did Desormeaux make this year?
